Well what a great netball match today, despite it being the hockey season still! Keira captained the side and performed well in this role, as well as on the court and thoroughly deserved Cottesmore’s POM today, she was also my POM, shared with Gabi.

In the first quarter the U11s took a while to settle and to get their ‘netball hats on’ and the slippery wet surface didn’t help either throwing the girls a little, as a result of this, the U11s were down 3-1 in the first quarter. This did not dishearten the girls though, or dampen their spirits and they came fighting back, in true Copthorne spirit! The defenders were tighter, turning over valuable interceptions, as were the centre court players and the attackers really started to gel, moving better. With more accurate passing down court and into the shooting circle, the U11s went ahead in this quarter 7-3.

At half time Cottesmore wanted to shorten the quarters slightly, so the U11s made sure that they used all of the time they had and they didn’t disappoint! All the girls continued to improve and worked better as the match went on and with more accurate passing and better movement down court, Copthorne held on to their lead, although Cottesmore did fight back, with Keira having a bit of a rough time from her defender, but they held their own, as did Keira, and they won the match by 11 goals to 4. Well done to all of the U11s today, I see great potential in you all as a team and for the upcoming netball season! Lots and lots of positives today, but lots to work on too! Keira, Gabi, Charlotte, Annabelle, Kirsten, Amreet, Zara, Ava.

Won 11-4
