U11B Rounders v Ardingly – Lost 9½-10½

A perfect day for a game of Rounders and to play on an even pitch was even better. All 9 Copthorne girls participated in this match, we went in to bat first on a 25 good balls game in which we scored 6½ rounders. Ardingly batted and scored 4½. Usually the first innings is getting warmed up and use to your opponents. We had a mixed team but some outstanding play by our backstop        Natasha Jones (who was playing up a year!) and Zilly Rustom at 2nd Post. It was important to back each other up and Alice, Eloise and Alayna did that naturally. We were much stronger than Ardingly when fielding and kept it calm at times. 2nd innings is always much harder to control the game. We just scored 3 and Ardingly 6 rounders. There were too many silly little mistakes that gave

Ardingly the chance to win. You need all 9 players focused to stop those ½ rounders.

Overall good fielding performance should make them stronger and confident into next weeks match. MC
