U13 Girls Tennis vs Cumnor House

Copthorne (5) – Cumnor (4)

It was not quite strawberries and cream weather but the rain did manage to stay away for the girls to complete their first tennis match of the term against Cumnor House. Copthorne’s 1st pair, Katie and Sofia, dominated the afternoon by winning all three of their matches with superb ground strokes and a wide variety of shots. If the wind was not making it hard to return the ball, Katie’s serves sure did the job of keeping the opposition on their toes. Roselly and Michaela had the longest and most exciting closely fought matches, winning one of their matches and even taking Cumnor’s 1st pair all the way to 5 all but narrowly missing out in the final game. With 3 wins for both teams, it was all to play for in the last three matches. Victoria and Liliana had a consistent afternoon of tennis with both players displaying some fantastic winners cross court and down the line but it was their final match where they saved the best till last. This victory helped Copthorne take a slender lead with the two remaining matches still underway. Katie and Sofia sealed the teams overall win with their 3rd successful match of the day, this leaving Roselly and Michaela to enjoy their last game. Well done girls, great teamwork.

Thank you to Cumnor and their supporters for a fantastic afternoon of tennis and also to the Copthorne Parents for your support and encouragement.
