U13 Rugby v Brambletye – March 2017

12th March 2017

Well the rain held off and a competitive game at last against Brambletye. Good pitch conditions and a full strength XII. Our final fixture at home so important to show what we could do. A fast start saw the boys score 2 quick and very different tries with the sheer pace of Dan followed by the power of captain Zac. However Brambletye were not going to lie down and with some good off loading they put us under severe pressure which showed that we could defend as well as attack. Sustained pressure eventually brought the opposition a well worked try. We hit back with another before half time from Dan after good work from the forwards winning the scrum, well done Zevon and co, and a move straight off the training pitch that actually worked.

The second half saw a second score from Brambletye but by this stage we were comfortable and tries came at regular intervals from Dan, Zac (2), Kieron and Kye. This was a top performance from the boys against strong opposition and I have to congratulate them all. It has not been an easy season as we have such a small squad and losing both Josh and Beau for virtually the whole time has not helped. Boys who might have expected to be on the bench most of the time have become an important and integral part of the team and have certainly not let anyone down. It has been especially pleasing in that the weaker players have always been encouraged by the stronger boys which has contributed to such a successful season on the pitch. One more game to go so looking for a big finish. Well done boys.
