This was truly a high quality football match with composure under pressure and some strong footwork evident to see. I was very impressed by every Copthorne player and it was no surprise when Alexander broke down the right wing early on and buried the ball in the back of the net from just inside the penalty area. Charlie quickly showed great timing with a number of tackles at the back whenever Brambletye looked threatening and he was often able to look up and thread a pass through to his colleagues. It was great to see him come forward to score the second goal just before the break. Rex was also putting in tackle after tackle and showing some nifty footwork in midfield. He provided a number of clever passes and soon put Arun through with just the goalkeeper to beat. Arun took this opportunity with confidence and very soon after he had scored a hatrick, his third score being from the edge of the area, fired into the bottom left corner of the goal. Charlie was not to be outdone and forced the goalkeeper into an own goal immediately before running onto nice passes from midfield and scoring a hatrick of his own. By this time Alexander had moved into goal and produced some brave saves to keep out the opposition. Tommy was also linking well in midfield and Rex continued with his imitation of a human dynamo.
The final score settled at Brambletye 2 Copthorne 8.
Man of the Match: Charlie (but it could have gone to anyone on the team).
