Due to the rain early in the day the match was played in the sports hall. The U8’s eagerly awaited their turn as the U9 team played first. After initial match nerves and time to adjust to the numerous lines on the sports hall floor, Copthorne started to play well.  In the first quarter, shooters Rachel and Jasmine scored 3 goals. Copthorne were faster than Pennthorpe around the court and attacking players Tianna, Jemima and Bella ran into space to receive the ball. Defenders Anna, Priya and Ruby marked the opposition tightly and Pennthorpe did not get the ball into their shooting circle. When the whistle went at half time Copthorne were in the lead 5-0.

With a squad of ten players it was time to make a few team changes. Paige played in defence and Jennifer moved from centre court to shooter. Pennthorpe also made some team changes. With positional changes and the change of ends it took both teams a few minutes to settle. Copthorne started to dominate the flow of play and had several shooting opportunities. In defence Copthorne once again stuck to their task of marking tightly resulting in many interceptions of the ball. Copthorne were quicker around court than their opposition and had the majority of the play. When the final whistle went Copthorne had manage to score another 2 goals, winning the match. 7-0.

Congratulations to the team; Rachel (capt), Jasmine, Tianna, Bella, Jemima, Priya, Jennifer, Anna and Ruby. Another fantastic result. Well done girls!
