U8 ‘B’ Football v Brambletye

15th September 2016

This was a thrilling start to the Under 8’s football season with chances galore at both ends of the pitch. Copthorne started well, spending a great deal of time in the Brambletye half and putting their players under constant pressure. This produced mistakes and several close chances went missing. The conditions were sweltering which meant that the match was divided into thirds and after the first water break, Brambletye took their turn to put the Copthorne boys under pressure. Great tackling from Henry stopped several goals and Matthew put his body on the line and pulled off some great saves to prevent what looked like certain goals. Harry was also a terrier wherever he was on the pitch and Marcus put in several tackles at key moments. At the start of the final period of play Henry hassled the Brambletye defenders, came away with the ball, dribbled in from the wing and then unleashed a cross which cannoned off the goal keeper into the goal. After much celebration all round, we had to endure several nervous minutes in front of our own goal where Alexander was now taking his turn to prevent any success for the opposition.

The final score was Brambletye 0 Copthorne 1
Man of the Match: Henry
