Well what a whizz banger of a performance today from the U8B team. All their practice and hard work has certainly paid off and they were like a different team!

Sophie was the captain today and won the toss choosing the first centre pass. The girls used this to their advantage and were quick off the mark scoring their first ever goal as a team. The goal was scored by Eloise, which was closely followed by another great goal from Sophie, putting them 2-0 up! They then continued what they’d started and soon Evie scored (in the second quarter) another two fabulous goals. The defenders Pippa, Zara, Emily and Paige worked really hard to stop many attempts on goal and so after two quarters they were 4-1 up!

Into the last two quarters of the match the U8’s continued their fantastic teamwork and Jennifer, Samantha and Ivy-May worked hard to get the ball into the shooters resulting in Eloise and Sophie both scoring another goal each. The defenders stood their ground and only allowed one further goal to be scored. The final score was 6-2 to Copthorne, so there were lots of celebrations all round today for their first win!

Well done to all the girls that played today as you all played fantastically, putting into practice what you had learnt in training. I could not possibly pick just one girl as POM this week, so it goes to each and every U8 that played today, well done!

Great Walstead also picked Sophie as their Player of the Match, our captain, which was very well deserved for her two great goals. Keep going girls, as you are improving each week!
