The U8s travelled to Ashdown house on Wednesday after a disappointing result on Tuesday. The aim was to bounce back with a better performance and that is exactly what happened as the boys enjoyed a great afternoon of flowing rugby. The game started with Copthorne scoring the first try with Arun finding it all too easy to run through the Ashdown defence. Copthorne’s defence enjoyed much success with Ashdown House being forced backwards on many occasions. Copthorne got their tales up and increased their lead with tries from Charlie, Alex, Henry and another from Arun. Ashdown House did finally get on the scoresheet but at half time Copthorne were in a commanding 5-2 lead.

The second half became ever more one sided with regular tries being scored including two from John who capitalised on Ashdown’s mistakes. Even when Ashdown looked as if they would score, Matthew came to the rescue twice with try saving tags on the touchline. The game was finished off with two more free flowing tries from Copthorne who ended up as comfortable 15-6 winners. A great afternoons rugby from the boys and they can look forward to playing Brambletye next week, a team they have already beaten this season.
