The U8s made it two victories in a row with a hard fought win over a Brambletye side that they have faced twice already this season. The game started with Alex making it look easy as he ran through the Brambletye defence to score the first try of the game. From here on in scores were traded with few mistakes being made. Charlie, Rex and Arun both scored well worked tries with Harry, Marcus and Henry working hard in defence, taking tags at every opportunity. It was pleasing to see the boys make it hard work for Brambletye and there were no easy tries given away during the whole match. Brambletye made a couple of errors before half time, again due to good defensive work, as Copthorne capitalised to go into half time 7-5 up.

A positive team talk at half time got the boys into gear again as they played another solid half. The try of the game was scored by Matthew as he weaved his way in and out of countless defenders to score from well inside his own half. A couple of Copthorne errors looked to have let Brambletye back into the game but fortunately it wasn’t to be as Copthorne ran in more tries towards the end to win with a final score of 12-10. A well-deserved victory and a solid performance by the boys.

Two tournaments in two days next week will really test the team. Let’s see how far we can go!
