U8 v Cumnor House

21st September 2017

This week the U8’s travelled to Cumnor House with 16 excited boys. We were prepared to see a ‘new style’ of football activities. We were welcomed by their friendly staff who pointed us towards their playing fields. The boys were surprised to see the unusual pitches and activities set up. The games included ‘back to back goals’, ‘quadrants’, ‘tiger and tails’ and a ‘4-a-side game’. We were split into groups of four and the boys took part in each of the activities. We rotated one direction whilst the Cumnor house boys rotated the other so they didn’t constantly play against the same teams. Mr Glaysher was leading the ‘back to back goals’ game and saw four brilliant ‘mini matches’ with each of the Copthorne boys performing well against their Cumnor counterparts. Feedback from the Cumnor staff is that the boys played hard and fairly on all of the other pitches too and gave a really good account of themselves against a strong Cumnor year group. An interesting afternoon and a different way of performing fixtures but all of the boys enjoyed themselves and saw some new activities.
