After a hard earned break the under 8s were ready to continue their season, and hopefully put Hurst to rest!

With a squad of 9 this week we had a couple of subs and the luxury of a home game, so the boys weren’t suffering from any travel impairment and were clearly fresher then the travelled Hurst players.

With the home advantage it meant we also had the luxury to referee the match, so Mr Coulson took charge of the whistle and instructed the boys to a fair game, all calls made down the middle with no biased calls or favouritism.

As the match began we could tell we were going to be in for a fast paced, high scoring encounter between these two zig zagging, quick stepping little teams!

Finally the boys played like proper rugby players and managed to, on occasions, pass the ball before they got tagged and even managed to hold their positions on the wings and wait for the ball to come wide, which was illustrated fantastically by P. Kinnear who in doing so managed to score the opening try.

The boys managed to play very well and eventually beat the Hurst team, even being down 7-5 at half time.

The final score 13-10 to Copthorne.

Try’s came thick and fast by D. Persad, who managed to bag himself at least 7 tries.

P. Kinnear got himself a double.

The rest of the team managed to all chip in with tries from W. Goodwin, G. Jones, N. Lopalco and Z. Riley

Apologies to the try scorers I have missed or miss calculated, there were so many try’s I lost count!

Well done lads good start back after half term, lets continue this good winning streak!
