U8A Football v Pennthorpe

6th November 2015

Lost 1-3

Scorer: Luis

All of our boys worked hard and played well in this game, but Pennthorpe were a good side and they kept their positions and passed the ball a little better than we did and deserved their win. Having said that, we managed to get to half time with the scores still at 0-0, thanks to good tackling from everyone. James and William made lots of strong tackles in defence, and Pranav, Lewis and Elliott also worked hard to close down the opposition in midfield.

Luis was doing a good job of keeping his position in the opposition half waiting for an opportunity to come his way. Pennthorpe started the second half very well, and as we tired a little and lost our shape they took advantage, scoring 3 nicely worked goals, and creating many other good chances. Our man of the match Rafe made numerous excellent saves in goal and stopped the scoreline from looking worse. Our best move of the game led to our goal. James brought the ball out of defence and passed it up the left wing to Elliott who controlled the ball and then slipped a nice pass through to Luis who calmly shot below the diving Pennthorpe keeper.

Well played to all the boys; hopefully you are starting to learn the jobs that each player has to do on the field in a match situation!
