This week the girls played against Brighton and Hove High School, for the second time this term.
Games lessons, this week have been a bit unsettled because of the weather, however, the girls were still excited as always.
We were a bit slow to start with, only scoring 1 goal in the first quarter. The Brighton and Hove GK was excellent and was flying all over the place to try and stop Zara and Amelie from shooting. The girls had to dodge that little bit extra today because of her. Simi and Annabelle both had super games, this showed because we didn’t let Brighton and Hove score any goals, some lovely interceptions from Simi and some excellent controlled chest passes from Annabelle meant that we were able to get the ball back down to our shooters quickly. Marwa and Kara had good games in the centre court. Kara was making some lovely runs into space at times, with Keira marking her player very tightly and making great interceptions as well. At half time, I swapped some of the girls around, so that they were playing out of position to give Brighton and Hove a chance to get some passes together, and this was also to get the Copthorne girls used to playing more than one position. This didn’t change the score as we didn’t score anymore after half time, but the girls all played very well even if they weren’t playing their normally position. Durgaa had a good game and was marking her player tightly when she came on.
An excellent start to the season with every match won and a super end to the term! Well done girls!
Thank you to the supporters that came to watch! Player of the match: Keira. LJ
