U8A Netball v Great Walstead

20th October 2017

Won 6-1

The U8s were all very excited to be playing their first away match. The minibus ride over to GW was noisy with the girls making up their own version of ‘a sailor went to sea, sea, sea’!!

We arrived to find the netball courts were very slippery and even during the warm up a couple of the girls fell over. However, we started the game with Maryam winning the toss to give us the first centre pass. The U8s were on the attack from the off and the ball was quickly passed into the shooting circle with Melia and Camillia finding good space in the centre court; our first goal was scored by Sienna. The GW girls passed the ball well but Maryam and Ann contested for every ball and intercepted brilliantly. We were 2 up after the first quarter.

In the second quarter we doubled our score with both Clara and Sienna scoring a goal each. Cassia and Levahna were much more involved in the defensive circle and worked hard to mark their players. The scoreline could have been different had the GW shooters converted their chances. However, we put the game out of reach in the third quarter scoring another 2 goals to end the game 6-1. Well done girls, another fab win!

Congratulations to Sienna who was voted player of the match by the GW girls, and a special mention to Ann who worked tirelessly in the centre position today!

Thank you to all who came to support and to Mrs Christopherson and Ian for helping with transport.

Team: Maryam (capt), Sienna (5), Clara (1), Camillia, Levahna, Ann, Melia and Cassia
