U8A Netball v Hurstpierpoint – Feb 2017

10th February 2017

On a very cold afternoon the U8s were trying to keep their fingers warm as we waited for the opposition to arrive. Rachel was the Captain for this game and she won the toss for the first centre pass. Unfortunately we were unable to score from it and the Hurst girls managed to turn over the ball and convert their chance. The game was very evenly matched and we had several chances to score but the ball was just not going in the net today! Hurst scored another goal in the second quarter to bring the score to 0-2 at half-time.

During the 3rd quarter we changed ends and our shooters; Rachel and Jasmine passed the ball unselfishly to each other to whoever was in a better position, this resulted in 2 goals being scored. However the Hurst girls were playing well and we went into the final quarter 2-5 down.

A good team talk followed asking for the girls to be a bit more aggressive and to keep possession of the ball. Well it was just like a light switch had been turned on! The team that came out in the final quarter were on fire. Ruby and Talia worked hard and prevented the shooters from getting the ball. Tianna’s intercepting was excellent and she linked well with Bella; and Rachel who made some good runs out of the D. Priya played brilliantly and was always available to help the attacking players. Jasmine found some good space under the post and the girls smashed it in the final quarter by scoring 4 goals with no reply!

Well done to all of you for playing such super netball throughout the game but especially during the final quarter!

Tianna was quite rightly voted player of the match by the Hurst girls, but I thought you all played brilliantly! Well done to the team: Rachel, Tianna, Jasmine, Priya, Ruby, Anna, Bella & Talia!

A big thank you also to our supporters.
