The U8A team won their match 4-2 against St. Christopher’s yesterday who were our toughest competition yet. As the opposition were very strong the girls had to work really hard in attack to find space and to get free from their opposition. Our usual shooters Sienna and Clara were playing especially well together passing to each other within the circle to get nearer to the post, putting us in the lead at quarter time. Ann and Camellia also put on a good performance in centre court with some strong passing and excellent feeding into the shooters, helping to maintain our lead. The third quarter was very competitive as the ball went back and forth across the court, a few silly passes were made causing the ball to be intercepted; we need to keep working on driving forward for the ball. Also the St. Christopher’s shooters scored some excellent goals bringing the score to 4-2. Going into the final quarter the team were a bit nervous, however Cassia and Maryam were superb in defence and stopped the ball from getting into the opposition’s third.
The game was very well fought the whole way; well done to all the girls I was very impressed with all your hard work and determination, special mention to Clara who was awarded the player of the match for her brilliant shooting.
