U8A Rounders v Cumnor U9B – Won 16½-11½

This was the first rounders match for the Year 3 girls, and it was nice to be playing in the sunshine.

We started off batting and in the first innings we scored 8. Isabelle got an excellent rounder on her first ball, everyone was playing safe and not risking any of their runs. Kirsten also did an excellent hit to get herself a rounder. Nearly everyone managed to get ½ a rounder in the first innings.

Annabelle started the bowling in the 2nd innings and bowled some lovely balls. Everyone was paying attention and knew most of the time where the ball had to go.  Annabelle also caught a great catch.  At half time it was 8-8.

We went into bat again and Zara made good contact with the ball to get a rounder on the first ball, with another one from Isabelle. Ellie also got a whole rounder, whilst everyone else managed to score ½ again. We ended the innings with 8½.

We knew our fielding had to be tight to stop Cumnor getting any rounders; and this is exactly what we did, they only scored 3½ rounders in 10 minutes. Zara’s bowling was great, Amreet got a catch and Anh could have had a catch if she wasn’t screaming ‘holy moly macaroni’ when the ball came flying at her!

A great team performance today, with all the girls encouraging each other. Thank you to the parents that came to support! Well done girls, Player of the match: Zara. LJ
