U8A Tag Rugby v Duke of Kent

Lost 6-8

As it was the first day back after the Christmas break, it could have been easy for the boys to put in an under par performance as most of them would not have touched a rugby ball for a few weeks. The boys however put a spirited performance in playing some nice flowing rugby throughout the game.

It started well for Copthorne as they opened the scoring with some excellent passing once tagged. All the boys were getting involved, running some good lines at the defence. Tries in the first half were scored by Josh, James and Dylan. Tagging was good but good running from some of the Duke of Kent boys saw them run in a couple of tries before a fast-paced first half came to an end with Copthorne leading by one score.

In the second half, Duke of Kent came back with some unanswered tries to take the lead. Pranav and William made some excellent tackles whilst both Lewis and Oliver made some excellent runs to split open the defence. The boys really tried hard to regain the advantage in the second half but when the final whistle went, just fell short. The final score ended 6-8 to Duke of Kent.

This was a really positive performance from all the boys. Their attitude towards the game was excellent and if they play the same way this term they will come away with some good victories. CC
