The U8A put in an incredible performance on Wednesday afternoon to extend their unbeaten run so far this season. From start to finish I cannot find fault in any of the boy’s performances in both attack and defence. Tag is often won by not making any mistakes and in the entire game there was not one dropped ball, not one player who ran off the side of the pitch and pretty much every possession ended in a score. This is a rarity in tag rugby so I want to stress just how much of an achievement this is. Almost every player got on the scoresheet in the game and if they weren’t scoring tries they were tagging really well to restrict Great Walstead to running back and forth across the pitch with nowhere to go. Charlie was the top try scorer with five but there were excellent tries from Tobi who picked his lines well, Oliver who showed his speed on a number of occasion and Taran who proved how tricky it is to tag someone who runs fast and straight. Harry made a couple of excellent break and finished off a work well worked try and Rohan was the top tagger of the day. Freddy rallied his troops excellently and kept the team ticking over nicely throughout the entire game. His voice is often the calm presence that the team needs at times. I’m hoping that the boys can keep up this level of performance in the second half of the season. If they keep playing the way they are then I have high hopes for them in the tag tournaments towards the end of term.
Well done to all involved. A fantastic victory!
