With this game also being a five a side contest the game really played into Copthorne’s hands as they have some superb runners with ball in hand. What was really pleasing however was how the defence has improved and Lancing, at times, found it very hard to break through the Copthorne defensive line. This meant from start to finish that the result was never really in doubt as Copthorne were never losing at any point in the game. Taran scored some excellent tries from well inside his own half and was well supported by Oliver who did the same as their pace was too much to handle for the Lancing defenders. Charlie was always on hand as a support player to finish off some well worked moves to get himself on the score sheet. Tobi grew into the game and, after realising that if he ran straight they opposition found it hard to tag him, scored a couple of tries himself. Top taggers of the day were Rohan and Harry but this isn’t to say that the rest of the team did not put in some great tags as Lancing pushed for tries. Captain Freddy is taking his role on with real maturity as he calls the defensive line and is always positive with encouragement for the whole team. A final score of 13-11 was another pleasing result but I am sure there will be much sterner tests to come this season. Well done to all the boys.
