The U8B team put on another dominant display with some excellent attacking rugby as they defeated Lancing Prep by 11 tries to 9 on Wednesday afternoon. With the game being cut to just 5 players per side there was ample space for Copthorne’s quick runners to find room to score some well worked tries. It was nice to see the tries shared around in the first half with more or less all players getting on the score sheet. There was some pleasing support play as others broke free and this lead to some tries literally being walked in with no defenders left to stop the Copthorne attacks. I lead of two tries at half time was well deserved and the boys went out in the second half and ran in some superb tries. Louis K, playing his first game in the A team, scored a couple with some weavey runs making him hard to stop and was perhaps pick of the try scorers. Noah J made some great attacking runs as did Harrison, Eddie, Leo Alfie. Dylan and Caelan were the top taggers of the day with some really good last gasp tags to deny Lancing tries. The final score probably doesn’t show just how dominant Copthorne were in the game as Lancing ran a couple of tries in right at the end but another really pleasing performance should set the team up for a tough test against Handcross Park next week. Team: Noah J, Harrison B, Alfie E, Caelan D, Leo L-L, Dylan W, Louis K, Eddie L.
