This was the first football match for many of the U8Cs and what a match it turned out to be. With both the As and Bs both watching as well as many parents we were all treated to a very exciting game which was end to end throughout. Copthorne dominated the first half and were rewarded with the first goal when Ruari made two excellent tackles in the Ardingly defence before taking the ball around the goalkeeper and Matthew was there to put the ball into an empty goal. More chances followed but some wasteful finishing meant that the half time score was 1-0. Ardingly came out stronger in the second half and created chances which they eventually scored one of to make the score 1-1. Copthorne then went straight up the other end and scored to go back in front courtesy of Nithin after great work from Finley. It looked as if the boys would hang on for the win but all their hard work was undone when some poor marking left the Ardingly forward one on one with Henry and he put the ball into the net to make the final score 2-2. It was a great effort from all the boys who can count themselves unlucky not to win the game.
