U9 ‘A’ Netball v Caterham

16th October 2016

This week the U9 ‘A’ netball team took on Caterham. Once again we had worked hard on movement in the circle this week and thinking about our passes into the shooters. It was time to put it into practice. The captain this week was Layla. Copthorne didn’t have the first centre pass and once again they were not fazed as they knew they could win back the ball. The ball was won straight back with a great interception at the centre pass from Daisy, it was then moved swiftly down the court and straight into the shooters resulting in the first goal of the game. As the first quarter progressed it was clear that Copthorne were up against a good team however, this made the Copthorne girls raise their game and play the best netball I have seen them play. Goals were scored by both Ella and Biba, Harley was linking the play beautifully and making great interceptions, Ffion was creating space, Danni was marking her player out of the game whilst Daisy and Layla were solid in defence not allowing Caterham a chance to have a shot on goal. Fantastic! The score after the first quarter was 5-0! In the second quarter Copthorne remained dominant with a crowd pleasing goal from Biba from the edge of the D. The score at half time was 9-2 to Copthorne.

In the second half of the game Copthorne girls really shone and showed their ability. They moved the ball effortlessly around the court and fought all the way to the final whistle. You could see how much playing netball in a team meant to them and how hard they have worked. The shooting from both Ella and Biba was outstanding along with great defence from Clara, Layla and Daisy and Harley’s control of the game. Brilliant to watch! The final score was 19-4 to Copthorne!
Player of the match voted by Caterham was Ella!
What a game! Thank you supporters! Very Proud!
