This week the U9A netball team took on Cottesmore. This week’s captain was Harley! In training this week the girls had been working on movement and passing in and around the circle so I was hoping to see their good practise put into a game. Once again the girls did not have the first centre pass but I knew this wouldn’t put them off and that they would come out fighting. The girls quickly won back the ball with an interception from Clara and moved the ball down the court and into the circle resulting in Copthorne’s first goal, shot by Ella. During the first quarter it was clear that Copthorne were once again the dominant team. They were moving well and linking their play nicely around the circle, which was great to see! After the first quarter the score was 7-0 to Copthorne. The second quarter saw play very similar to the first with Copthorne girls making great interceptions and then moving the ball quickly down court and into their ‘D’. Harley and Lowenna were offering around the circle while Biba and Ella were moving well within, making every pass count. The score at half time was 12-0 to Copthorne with Biba rounding it off with a fantastic shot right from the edge of the ‘D’. It was time for a switch!
During the second half all the girls played out of position but they continued to fight for the ball and move into space. Further goals were scored by Clara, Lalya and Harley bringing the final score to 18-0.
Well done to all the girls who played. Thank you to all our supporters too!
