U9 A Rugby v Brambletye – March 2017

8th March 2017

Today’s match was a very bruising encounter. Our boys have already played Brambletye twice this season, and we came out second best again today, but I was not at all disappointed with the performance they put in. In fact, this match was probably our best this season. The boys tackled with true aggression, and we were actually 2-1 up at half time. William and Felix were magnificently robust in their defence, helped put by Josh and Matteo in the middle. Out wide, Rafe, Oliver, Dylan and Toby kept their positions so it was much harder for our opposition to get around the flanks. Toby scored two tries for us today, showing excellent pace on the wing, and Oliver got our third.

In the second half we were playing up the hill, and despite tackling heroically, were unable to keep Brambletye from winning the game. Some of our boys need to learn to keep their cool when a match is so competitive, but I was very proud of the effort and commitment that every player showed today. We have definitely improved a lot over the course of the season!
