Today I was lucky enough to watch and umpire some of the juniors coming through the school and they certainly didn’t disappoint! From when the whistle blew the U9 ‘B’ team went out full throttle and Lowenna who was the Captain today, and who played centre, linked well with Amelie and onto Tayla and Millie who were shooting. Despite a few interceptions from Brambletye whose defence was very good, Copthorne were determined to score first and once Tayla and Millie had settled in the shooting circle, Tayla scored a great goal putting Copthorne ahead! The U9Bs then maintained this 1-0 lead until the end of this quarter.

For the reminder of the match the U9 B’s really knuckled down and played some super netball, and their passing and pace up the court was fast, even at times playing the ball into the space ahead! The centre court players Mona, Amelie, Emilia and Lowenna all worked well together today to feed the ball up the court, and Lowenna was super as centre, controlling the game well! Katie and Gabby also worked tirelessly in defence and Gabby’s interceptions were fantastic today, often turning the ball over for Copthorne! Millie, Tayla and Belle all also had a great game, with Tayla gaining lots of valuable interceptions on court, and scoring lots of the goals! Millie also never gave up with her shooting and was very deservedly awarded a goal right at the end of the match, to make the score 5-1 to Copthorne!

Well done to all of the girls today as you all played fantastically for your first game together and I’m positive with more practice this is a team that will continue to do well this season!

POM today picked by Brambletye was Tayla and mine is actually a three way spilt between Tayla, Lowenna and Gabby. Well done girls and keep it up!
