U9 B’s @ Caterham

Lovely pitches, super weather, great parental support and a bunch of very enthusiastic boys were the ingredients for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Although 4 out of the 7 boys were a year young they certainly gave as good as they got in their two titanic battles against Hazelwood and Caterham.  It was the first time I had seen these boys play and I was very impressed by their performance which got better and better as the afternoon progressed. Initial weaknesses in terms of position were ironed out and by the end the boys were playing some very good stuff. Alex in goal pulled off a string of good saves whilst Wesley and Sam were all but impassable at the back. Between them Nicholas and Thomas covered every blade of grass  marshaling the midfield and up front the mazy runs of Dhruv  were complemented by the more direct approach of Jake. To go down 1 – 0 and 2 – 1 to physically bigger boys is no disgrace and I think that the boys deserve great credit and the effort stars already issued. Well done all.
