The boys arrived at Brambletye in pouring rain but in high spirits.
Brambletye kicked off and it was clear they were going to be a good team with two big and fast players in attack. Copthorne were under pressure but goalkeeper Will and defender Wesley worked tirelessly to keep out an energetic attack, we were being put under pressure. The boys reorganised with Ewan, Sam S and Sam P dropping back to help . Brambletye went in at half time 2 goals up scored by the same player.
At half time the boys reacted brilliantly; they realised Essam in attack needed support . With the use of off/on subs Tom and James; the boys pulled a goal back through Sam R and worked incredibly hard and competed for every tackle and started to play some really good football despite worsening conditions. Brambletye’s best player scored a well deserved hat trick but the boys came back strongly when Essam scored our second, with the boys fitness and desire to get an equaliser and players rotating a draw seemed very possible and they created two excellent chances but a little bit of panic and by now awful conditions saw the chances go away.
However the boys can be very proud of the way they played and competed in very difficult conditions against a very useful, much bigger team. AS
