U9 Rounders v Brambletye – Lost 11½-12½

Copthorne lost the toss so were fielding first.  The girls knew it was going to be a difficult match from the beginning playing on a much smaller pitch than they were used to as well as having to bat uphill!

Copthorne were less confident to begin with today both in their batting and fielding and the girls found it difficult to adapt to the smaller space and uphill pitch, combined with the strong fielding from Brambletye, it was going to be a low scoring game.  At the end of the first innings it was 5½ to Copthorne and 5 to Brambletye!

In the second innings it was all to play for, and there were some great rounders and half rounders scored! Our fielding in the second innings started off a bit wobbly but as the game went on the girls became stronger and more confident on the pitch stumping out 7  Brambletye players!

However in the end Brambletye’s strong fielding and their advantage of playing on their home pitch proved too strong for Copthorne and they pipped us to the post beating us by 1 rounder!  A great effort today girls-well done!  TC

A huge thank you to Mrs Finnegan, Mrs Solanki and Mr Scott for helping to transport the girls to Brambletye!
