This week we welcomed both Handcross Park and Brambletye to fortress Copthorne. With a Triangular tournament we played seven minute halves and played each of the other two teams. We began against Handcross Park, with the very first possession leading to a try for the opposition. Nobody willing to lay a hand on their opposition and giving them an easy path to the try line. Unfortunately this was the passage of the first half and we went in 4-1 down at half time. An improved second half tackling performance saw us lose 8-3 to a strong Handcross team who ran with purpose and power whilst keeping strong at the back to stop us going forward.

Our second match saw us come up against Brambletye, with similar numbers to ourselves in the year group we fancied our chances against them. This game was a case of two teams who ran well with the ball but both missed plenty of tackles. The second half came around to better defence from both teams. We conceded with 30 seconds left to go 5-4 down only for us to make a clean break to tie the game up 5-5 on the full time whistle. A well-deserved draw for both teams.  The final game was a walkover for Handcross as they beat Brambletye 8-1 to leave the day unbeaten.

A tough last week of rugby for our lads with a difficult game at Hazelwood on Tuesday followed by a triangular on Wedensday. A week to recover is needed by all!
