U9 Rugby v Handcross Park

Copthorne    8    Handcross    6
Try Scorers:  Tom (4), Matthew (2), Arman and Freddie
Man of the match:  Tom
The Under 9s got back to winning ways this week at home to Handcross, playing a 7-a-side version of the game.  We actually played quite poorly in the first half, with very few solid tackles being made and soon found ourselves trailing by 4 tries to 2 at half time.  In the second half we were more aggressive in the tackle and managed to put in some good hits on some of the better players from Handcross.  This seemed to boost our morale and  our opponents were clearly less keen to run at us with the enthusiasm that they had in the first half.  Tom scored try after try with some strong running, Matthew also had a good game, and we came storming back to win the game with a much improved second half display.  As pleasing as it was to win this exciting encounter; we really need to learn to make it harder for our opponents to score if we want to compete against stronger opponents.  Well played nonetheless boys.
