A return to school meant a return to rugby for our Yr 4 boys. After two sessions back we were thrown into a fixture against a strong Hurst team. From the first whistle the Hurst boys moved the ball around well and didn’t let themselves be tackled. However we did well to keep them under wraps and scored a couple of tries ourselves to keep it close at 2-3. Leading up to half time the Hurst boys started to run with real purpose and power and made a few breaks through our line to take the score to 7-3 at half time. During half time we discussed the need for some solid tackles and strong runners to match the Hurst players. We did this well at the start of the second half and managed to gain a turnover by completing 6 tackles in less than 5 metres of play! We closed the gap to 8-5 before we fell away towards the end of the match. The game finishing 11-5 to Hurst. For a first week back we weren’t as solid as our last game but this will come with time. Constant improvement is still seen in certain players which is making our team become a more solid overall unit. Onto next week with a home match against Lancing Prep.
