U9A Cricket v Brambletye

Our season got started this week with a close match at home to Brambletye. Our visitors won the toss and chose to field.

We batted a little hesitantly and should have taken more quick singles to add to our total, but managed to keep our wickets well, with Brambletye only taking 2 wickets in our innings.

Copthorne Innings

We made 231 runs starting from 100, losing 2 wickets.

Most of our runs came from wides and no-balls, but our top run scorers were as follows:

Luca – 8 runs from 13 balls

Dhruv – 5 runs from 13 balls

Brambletye innings

Brambletye made 239 runs, losing 4 wickets. Once again, most runs came from extras, with the following bowlers standing out:

Liban took 2 wickets for 6 runs, including good catches from Liban himself and from Anthony

Dhruv took 2 wickets for 10 runs, both clean bowled.

So we ended up losing by the tiny margin of 8 runs, in what was a well fought and competitive match. Well done to all the boys; and let’s aim to cut down on the wides on no balls next week!
