U9A Cricket v Brambletye – Summer 2017

4th May 2017

We won the toss and our captain, Josh elected to field. Brambletye batted quite well, in particular they were good at picking up quick singles and putting pressure on the fielders.

Our best bowlers were Alexander S who took 2 wickets for 12 runs, Lewis who took 1 for 5 runs, Arun G – 1 for 7 runs and Daniel J – 1 for 8 runs. All of the above bowled 2 overs. Brambletye made 191 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.

In reply we started very well with Josh scoring a fantastic 16 runs off only 14 balls. Unfortunately for us, Brambletye bowled accurately, and very few of our other batsmen scored many runs at all. We also gave our wickets away too easily, losing 10 during our innings, which cost us 20 runs more than Brambletye’s deficit. In the end we lost by 49 runs but hopefully learned a lot from the first game of the season.
