We lost the toss and were put in to bat. We made 192 runs in 24 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Walstead fielded and bowled quite well, with very few of our batsmen actually scoring many runs. They kept the boundaries to a minimum. Our top batsmen were: Nicholas who made 6 runs from 9 balls.
Sam R, who made 4 runs from 12 balls.

In reply, Walstead made 199 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Walstead’s opening pair really destroyed our bowlers, scoring 24 runs and getting them off to a great start.

Our best bowlers were:
Sam R – 0 wickets for 5 runs
Archie – 1 wicket for 9 runs
James – 1 wicket for 6 runs
Sam P – 1 wicket for only 4 runs

Luke also bowled quite nicely and was unlucky not to pick up a wicket in a fine second over. Sam P and Ruari bowled our last 4 overs needing at least 2 wickets to win the game in a grandstand finish. Both bowled well, but the highlight was the last ball of the game where the batsman edged a ball in the air to James the wicket keeper. The ball was flying quite fast and it bounced out of James’ hands only to be grabbed by Nicholas just behind him! Unfortunately it was too little too late and we lost by 7 runs. We could quite easily have won this game had we not dropped 5 relatively easy catches in the field.
