U9A Cricket v Hurst – Summer 2017

17th June 2017

Our home match against Hurst this week was played in perfect sunny weather. We won the toss and chose to field. We bowled and fielded reasonably well, restricting Hurst to 88 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Unfortunately, we gave away 68 runs in wides and no balls which was rather disappointing.
Our best bowlers were:
Josh 1 wicket for 7 runs from 2 overs
Daniel 1 wicket for 7 runs from 2 overs
Elliott 2 wickets for 6 runs from 1 over.
Lewis got a wicket thanks to a catch from Pranav, and Pranav himself also took a wicket. Rafe got the last wicket for us thanks to a good run out.

In reply we started well but gave away our wicket too many times and fell short, scoring 40 runs for the loss of 14 wickets. Hurst bowled more accurately than us, only giving away 44 extras, and they took a total of 7 catches from our batting. Our running between wickets was also pretty poor; as we lost 4 wickets to run outs.
Our best batting figures came from:
Josh, who scored 9 from 8 balls.
Charlie who scored 4 from 11.
These are the only 2 batsmen who did not lose their wicket in our innings. Our run chase started quite well, but soon the loss of wickets left us with too much to do and Hurst earned a deserved win.
