U9A Cricket v Pennthorpe

26th June 2016

We lost the toss and were put in to bat. Copthorne made 203 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. (Starting on 100 runs)
We batted quite well, putting pressure on the fielders by going for a lot of quick singles; but Pennthorpe bowled and fielded well and we knew we had a match on our hands from the first ball.

Top Batsmen:
Sam P who scored 16 runs off 15 balls hitting 3 fours.
Sam R who scored 11 runs off 16 balls, hitting 2 fours.
Wesley and Nicholas who both scored 7 off 11 balls.

In reply, Pennthorpe scored 211 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

Top Bowlers:
Randeep – 2 wickets for 16 runs
Nicholas – 1 wicket for 4 runs
Ewan – 1 wicket for 10 runs
Archie – 1 wicket for 12 runs
James – 0 wickets for only 5 runs

We bowled quite well, but Pennthorpe had some good batsmen, and managed to get their noses ahead in the final over of the day. We could have won the game if we hadn’t dropped a couple of catches, but Pennthorpe probably were just the better side. Well played boys! DJ
