U9A Indoor Hockey v Brambletye

29th January 2016

Drew 2-2

This term the U9 girls have looked into developing their hockey skills and on Wednesday some of them had the opportunity to play a match.

At the start both teams were slightly hesitant and uncertain of what to do with the ball and in which direction to attack but with some help and encouragement from both umpires all the girls started to really go for it. Copthorne settled the quickest, eager to go and tackle and run with the ball. Gabrielle was very quick to react and intercept a 16 yard pass, driving straight into the circle to score the opening goal but Brambletye managed to come back and find the equaliser just before half time.

The girls were now really keen and willing to get more involved for the 2nd half. As the game progressed so did their understanding of the rules and set pieces. It was once again Copthorne who went into the lead thanks to wonderful ball control and patience from Annabelle who then quickly played a fantastic through pass to Gabrielle in the circle to score her 2nd goal. Brambletye were not done yet and matched us with everything. They continued to fight for the ball and deserved to tie the game. At the end of the game both teams were exhausted but left wanting more.

Well done to all the girls and to Gabrielle for being voted player of the match. I really look forward to your next match after half-term. HP
