This week the unbeaten U9A team took on Ardingly in their final match of the season. Having proven themselves to be a fantastic versatile team the girls were determined to go out on a high and continue their winning streak. This week’s captain was Amreet, who unfortunately loss the toss but this meant we got to choose our shooting end. Due to a stuck post we had two different heights to choose from, a 9ft and a 10ft, so choosing the 9ft post end first we thought might be an advantage. The girls most definitely took advantage of choosing their shooting end and wasted no time in scoring their first goal, 4 passes was all that was needed. The girls showed their dominance during the first quarter with great goals scored from both Zara and Keira, along with brilliant interceptions from Gabbi and Amreet! The score was 5-0 to Copthorne. Now the girls faced their challenge of the 10ft post, which didn’t seem to pose much of a problem. The girls worked hard to keep the ball down their shooting end allowing the shooters to work the ball round, enabling them to get into good shooting positions. Once again Ardingly didn’t even have a chance to shoot due to the play of the Copthorne girls in the centre court. The score at half time was 8-0!
During the second half the girls continued to play well keeping up their high standard despite being put into different positions. The final score was 11-2 to Copthorne. I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the U9A team for all their hard work and dedication this term.
Well done Eva, Amreet, Annabelle, Sophie, Gabbi, Amelie, Keira and Zara! I look forward to coaching you all in the Summer term for Rounders! HC
