U9A Netball v Hurst – Lost 5-2

This week the U9A team took on Hurst. After just a few days back into the swing of things the girls were looking forward to their first match. Belle was the captain and she won the toss giving Copthorne the first centre pass!

The girls got off to a bit of a shaky start and the play was a bit scattered and un-controlled. However they soon got back into the game and started to play as a team. The score at the end of the first half was 2-0 to Hurst with an unfortunate missed goal from Copthorne!

The girls were raring to go in the second half and determined to score. They didn’t disappoint and fought for every ball. They were also linking the ball well and passing with increasing accuracy. They brought the score back to 3-2 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The final score was 5-2 to Hurst but I think the teams were much more evenly matched in the second half.

Well done girls – a good result.

My player of the match was Belle who scored both of the goals! Abigail Guest and Emily Goodfellow also played very well in attack with Sophia Vieira being solid in defence.
