U9A Netball v HXP

13th November 2015

Won 15-4

This week the U9A netball team took on Handcross Park. Eva was the captain; she got Copthorne off to a great start by winning the centre pass. This week the girls had worked hard in training moving onto the ball so I was eager to see them put it into practice. Zara scored the first goal within a minute, already their movement looked better. During the first quarter the girls showed great movement around court, dodging for the ball and getting into great spaces. With goals from both Zara and Keira the score at half time was 4-0 to Copthorne. A much better start than last week!

In the second quarter the girls were on fire and played better than I have seen them play. Amreet and Eva were tight in defence while Amelie and Keira were attacking forward for the ball. Gabby was linking up the play and Zara was getting into great space in the circle. The girls weren’t only moving into great spaces and attacking the ball but they were man to man marking brilliantly making it extremely hard for Handcross to move the ball down the court, forcing errors. This all led to a score of 10-1 to Copthorne at half time.

After an impressive first half performance it was time for a change of position. During the second half no one played in their usual position. Despite this the girls continued to work hard and together as a team, passing accurately and moving onto the ball. They really showed off their versatility as a team! The final score was 15-4 to Copthorne!

Huge congratulations to all the girls who played as it was a fantastic team effort! Well done – Amreet, Eva, Sophie, Kirsten, Gabby, Amelie, Keira and Zara, you are getting better and better each week!

Well done to Zara who was voted as player of the match!

Thank you again to all the supporters. HC
