U9A Rounders v Ardingly

29th April 2016

Won 13½ – 7

The U9As won the toss and put Ardingly into bat. Copthorne only allowed them to score 2. rounders

owing to some good bowling and four exciting stumpings at second post. Copthorne then batted scoring 8½ rounders: three of these were scored by Gabrielle, the remainder from many other members of the team.

Ardingly then had their second innings and because Copthorne’s fielding wasn’t as tight as it was in the first innings they scored 4½ rounders. However, Annabelle took a catch while playing backstop and the partnership of Keira and Gabrielle stumped two of their players out. Copthorne rallied and in their second innings scored five rounders.

The girls played really well as a team, giving encouragement if required. Although they won the match they lost a few players by not always keeping an eye on the ball and either being stumped or run out.

The team of Annabelle, Amelie, Gabrielle, Kirsten, Zara, Amreet, Eva, Keira and Robin were enthusiastic and showed great teamwork. It was a pleasure to umpire the match.

The Ardingly girls chose Zara as their Player of the Match on the Copthorne Team. Well done all of you!
