Well what a great day of sport for Copthorne! First a super morning of athletics, followed by a great rounders match this afternoon! Despite this busy schedule the U9s gave it their all today battling through the heat and their exhaustion, of which they came out triumphant! Katherine captained the side today and having won the toss decided to field first. The U9s did a great job of fielding in this innings and worked together as a team, allowing only 5 rounders to be scored in total from Ardingly! There was some great bowling from Charlotte who also took a great catch, and there was quick thinking from Ella C, Katie and Charlotte who all stumped out players. Amelia also took a great catch from a backwards hit! The U9s then went into bat and managed to get over double Ardingly’s score with full rounders scored from Charlotte, Ella D, Ella C, Katie and Neve and some good halves from Charlotte, Ella C, Katie and Rosie! Go the U9s!

In the second innings Copthorne lost their momentum and focus for a bit when fielding allowing Ardingly to push up their score, although they redeemed themselves and picked their game back up, resulting in them stumping out 8 of Ardinglys 10 players! The U9s then went into bat for the second time and again they batted well, although the excitement of the long day was starting to take its toll, however they was still good rounders scored from Charlotte, Ella D and Amelia and halves from Katherine, Katie, Josie, Rosie and Kushi.
The final score at the end of the second innings was 19½ to Copthorne and 15 to Ardingly! Well done to all of the U9s today who were determined to beat Ardingly after losing to them at the start of the season! It just proves girls that hard work and determination does pay off, and it was nice to see just how far you have progressed! My player of the match today is shared between Ella C and Charlotte, well done girls and a big well done to all of the U9s again! Lets see if we can get another win next week, for our last match of the season! TC
Charlotte 5,Katie 3½, Ella C 2, Ella D 2, Kushi 1½, Rosie 1½, Amelia 1, Katherine 1, Neve 1, Josie 1.
