U9A Rounders v Brambletye – Summer 2017

8th May 2017

This week the U9A team took on Brambletye at rounders. We were all hoping for the rain to stay away so we could get a whole match in! This week’s captain was Ella; she won the toss and chose for Copthorne to field first.

During the first innings the girls fielded really well with only a few miss fieldings. They also managed to get 7 players out – Harley had 3 stumpings at 2nd post; Clara had a stumping at 1st post while Ella had 2 catches and Tayla had 1. Great work! Brambletye had set the girls 4 rounders to chase! For a first bat the girls batted well but played a little safe. Full rounders were scored by Biba, Lowenna, Harley and Clara and ½’s by Danni, Harley and Lowenna. Copthorne had scored 6½! All was still to play for in the second innings.

During the second innings both teams upped their games! Ella bowled brilliantly and Biba was extremely accurate as backstop, the girls gelled in the field which was great to see. Brambletye managed to score 4½ rounders with Tayla getting a stumping on 4th post! Copthorne now had a target of 3! Once again the girls batted well and full rounders were scored by Ella, Biba, Ffion and Tayla while ½’s were scored by Lowenna, Harley, Tayla and Clara. The final score was 13-8½!

A great first match!

Top catcher- Ella. Top full rounders- Biba
