This week the U9A team took on Cottesmore at rounders. Amelie was the captain this week who won the toss and chose for Copthorne to field first. The girls fielded really well, with great consistent bowling from Annabel and great deep fielding from Keira. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to get any of Cottesmore out, they had some great hits and rounders scored. Cottesmore had set us a big target of 8 rounders! If Cottesmore’s fielding was as good as their batting we knew this would be tough. The girls batted really well and fought hard at the end of their innings with only Gabrielle and Annabel left in! ½ rounders were scored by Amreet, Isabelle, Keira, Amelie, Gabrielle, Annabelle and Eva, full rounders were scored by Annabelle and Gabrielle. After the first innings the score was tied at 8 all!

The second innings was going to be a good match! The girls fielded exceptionally well and were really focused. We had a catch from Ella and three stumpings from Gabrielle, Amelie and Eva, the girls were on a roll! Cottesmore only scored 4 ½ this time! The girls knew now they only needed 5 rounders to win and they were determined. Once again they rose to the challenge and didn’t disappoint our spectators. ½ rounders were scored by Isabelle, Robin, Gabrielle and Annabelle and full rounders were scored by Gabrielle, Robin and Annabelle. Copthorne had done it … They scored 7 rounders!

The final score was 15-12 ½ to Copthorne!

Well done to all the girls who played, this really was a fantastic game to watch and umpire! My player of the match was Gabrielle who scored a total of  5 ½ rounders! Well done!
