U9A Rounders v Cumnor – Won 18½-8

This week the U9A rounders team took on Cumnor House. The girls were very excited to play their first match of the season. Mallory was captain today; she won the toss and put Copthorne in to field first.

The girls made a good start with fantastic bowling from Mallory and good throwing and catching skills in the field with only a few nervous errors. Ruby also made a good stumping to get a player out at second.  After the first innings Cumnor had set Copthorne a total of 3 rounders! The girls batted ok with Macie, Tali and Ruby scoring full rounders and Mallory, Alana, Freya and Beth scoring halves. This took Copthorne’s total to 5½ .

During the second innings the girls really impressed and it was clear that they were getting into the swing of things. The girls fielded brilliantly getting 7 players out! Ruby had 3 stumping’s at second and a catch while Alana and Emily W teamed up to get 3 players out on first. In total Cumnor had scored 8!

The girls had been super in the field and now it was their time to shine with the bats. We had full rounders from Alana, Ruby, Tali, Emily W and Mallory and half rounders from Alana, Beth, Freya, Emily-May, Emily W and Mallory. This took Copthorne’s total to a huge 18½ rounders!!

Great first game girls, with all players scoring at least half a rounder!  Player of the match voted by Cumnor was Mallory.  My players of the match were Mallory and Ruby – well done girls!  HC
