U9A Rugby v Handcross & Brambletye – Feb 2017

10th February 2017

v Handcross Park

This was a remarkably low scoring game, thanks to good defending from both teams. William and James stood out with some excellent tackling, though the whole team defended superbly, and we were a little unlucky to lose by a single try in the end. Some slightly wild passes caused several knock ons which were probably the difference between the teams.

Final score: Handcross 2 Copthorne 1.

Try Scorer – William

v Brambletye

Last time we played Brambletye, we ended up losing 3-0, so our goal was to give them more of a match this time and we certainly achieved that. Both sides traded tries for a while, and Brambletye did move the ball well, passing nicely and using some of their quick players to get around us. In the end we lost by 6 tries to 7, with Oliver and James scoring twice each, and William and Toby also getting over the line. Brambletye deserved their victory, but we can hold our heads high after playing well and competing more effectively.
