U9A V Cumnor House

20th September 2017

Second match of the season and a dreary damp day. Although the results for both the A and B teams were also dreary, there were certainly some very bright spots.

The A’s struggled against a big powerful side. Although the boys played some lovely passing football, any pass that was slightly astray ended up being taken by Cumnor who used this possession well and simply over powered us going 6-0 into the lead.

The second half was a different story and the boys changed some positions as well as some tactics and scored 4 unanswered goals. Hitting an early pass into space and using our speed to run at defenders, Alex scored a hat trick and Arun scored one.

The team lost but showed signs of progression with the boys trying to use both feet when passing, showing commitment in tackles and a understanding of changing tactics. It is very rare for me to highlight one player as I am very team orientated but Arun produced an excellent performance for a 8 year old – his running was tireless, tackling commited and the range of passing was of a very high standard.

The rest of the team were not far behind – although we lost,  there were so many positives and momentum to take to the next match.

We all have constructive things to work on in games lessons. Great attitude by everyone today.
