This week a mixed U9 team took on Great Walstead at rounders. The captain this week was Clara, who won the toss and decided to field first. This week we decided to only count rounders and half rounders that were scored by the batsman rather than a focus on no-balls!

During the first innings the Copthorne girls fielded really well with Lowenna cutting down any balls that were hit. Ella bowled beautifully and Biba and Harley worked well on backstop and 2nd post. At the end of the first fielding innings Copthorne managed to get 3 batters out, all through stumpings by Harley and Layla, and Great Walstead had only scored ½!

It was now time to bat! Full rounders were score by Biba, Harley, Lowenna, Katie and Layla and halves were scored by Harley. This gave Copthorne a total of 5½ rounders!

The girls knew they had to keep their fielding tight once again and they certainly didn’t disappoint! The girls got 7 batters out, with 2 catches from Ffion and Biba, and 5 stumpings from Clara, Danni and Harley. A fantastic effort, no score from Great Walstead.

Further full rounders were scored by Ella, Lowenna and Clara whilst Biba, Harley, Katie and Clara also scored halves. This brought the final score to 10½ for Copthorne and ½ for Great Walstead.

Well done to all the girls: Ella, Biba, Harley, Lowenna, Katie, Gabriella, Ffion, Clara, Tayla, Layla, Belle, Martha and Danni.
